The Last Mission
After three years in hiding, former special operative Adam Al-Salmi receives a mysterious message from someone he believed was dead: “Trust no one.” Before he can understand what is happening, unknown men begin hunting him. Adam discovers that the operation that destroyed his team three years earlier was not a failed mission at all, but part of a much larger conspiracy. Forced back into the world he left behind, Adam must uncover the truth, survive the people who once trained him, and stop an operation that could cost thousands of lives. But as the truth begins to emerge, Adam realizes that the enemy may be much closer than he ever imagined.

The Last Mission

It was 3:17 in the morning when Adam woke up to the sound of his phone.

His phone never rang at that hour.

In fact, it wasn't even connected to a network.

Adam opened his eyes slowly and remained still for a few seconds, listening to the strange ringing coming from the table beside his bed.

The phone rang again.

He reached for it.

The screen displayed:

Unknown Number.

Adam did not answer.

The call ended.

Two seconds later, a message appeared.

Trust no one.

Adam stared at the screen.

Another message appeared.

They're back.

His expression changed instantly.

He knew exactly what those words meant.

Three years earlier, Adam had been part of a special operations unit whose existence was known only to a handful of people.

One night, everything had collapsed.

Four members of his team disappeared.

Two were officially declared dead.

The mission file was erased.

And Adam walked away from everything.

He changed his name.

He disappeared.

He built a quiet life far away from the world of operations, weapons, and secrets.

Until that night.

The Visitor

Adam got out of bed.

He did not turn on the lights.

He walked toward the window and looked down at the street.

Everything seemed normal.

Two parked cars.

A streetlamp flickering in the distance.

A man walking alone.

Then Adam noticed something.

A black car was parked across the street.

It had not been there an hour earlier.

Adam immediately turned off his phone.

Then he heard a sound.

A soft knock on the door.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Adam did not move.

A voice came from behind the door.

“Adam?”

He froze.

The voice was familiar.

Far too familiar.

Impossible.

“Who are you?” Adam asked.

The voice answered:

“The man you left behind in Building Seven.”

Adam's eyes widened.

Building Seven.

He had not heard that name in three years.

He opened the door suddenly.

No one was there.

Only a black envelope lying on the floor.

Adam picked it up.

At that exact moment, the window behind him shattered.

A bullet passed over his head.

Another followed.

Adam dropped to the floor.

He did not think.

He moved.

The Chase

Adam grabbed the envelope and ran toward the stairs.

Footsteps were already coming from below.

At least two men.

He reached the fifth floor.

He heard the entrance door of the building open.

They knew where he was.

That meant they had been watching him for some time.

Adam turned and ran toward the roof.

He pushed open the metal door.

Cold air hit his face.

He ran toward the edge.

The neighboring building was less than two meters away.

Adam jumped.

He landed hard, rolled across the roof, and immediately got back up.

A man appeared behind him at the edge of the building.

He raised his weapon.

But Adam was already gone.

He climbed down a metal staircase and reached a narrow alley.

He ran.

He had no idea where he was going.

But he knew one thing.

His quiet life was over.

The Black File

Adam reached an abandoned building that he had once used as an emergency safe house.

He locked the door behind him.

Only then did he open the envelope.

Inside was a photograph.

A photograph of his old team.

Five men.

Adam was the fifth.

He studied their faces.

Then he noticed something.

One face had been crossed out with black ink.

Under the photograph were three words:

The traitor survived.

A cold feeling moved through Adam.

He remembered every member of his old team.

Adam.

Saif.

Malik.

Noor.

And Yassin.

Saif and Malik had died during the operation.

Noor had disappeared.

And Yassin...

Adam had seen his body himself.

Or at least he thought he had.

Adam turned the photograph over.

There were coordinates written on the back.

And beneath them:

04:00.

He had less than forty minutes.

Back Into the Field

Adam had sworn never to return.

But a promise was one thing.

The truth was another.

He reached the warehouse at exactly four in the morning.

The place looked abandoned.

Large metal doors.

Old crates.

The smell of oil and rust.

Adam entered carefully.

“Yassin?”

No answer.

Then a voice came from the darkness.

“I knew you would come.”

A man stepped from behind a concrete column.

He was older now.

His beard was longer.

A scar ran from his eyebrow down across his cheek.

But the eyes were the same.

Adam stared at him.

“Yassin.”

The man smiled.

“Missed me?”

Adam did not move.

“You're dead.”

“I needed everyone to believe that.”

“Who's hunting me?”

“They're not after you.”

“Then what do they want?”

Yassin stepped closer.

“They're after what you know.”

“I know nothing.”

“That's exactly why you've survived for three years.”

Yassin pulled out a small device.

He pressed a button.

A screen appeared, displaying classified files.

“The operation that destroyed our team wasn't a failed mission,” Yassin said.

Adam looked at him.

“What do you mean?”

“It succeeded.”

“Succeeded? Half our team died.”

“Because the real objective wasn't what we were told.”

Adam remained silent.

Yassin continued:

“We thought we were stopping a smuggling operation. In reality, we were protecting something much bigger.”

“Who was behind it?”

Yassin looked directly into his eyes.

“Someone inside our own command.”

Before Adam could respond, the lights went out.

Vehicles stopped outside.

Yassin looked toward the doors.

“They found us.”

The Escape

Gunfire erupted outside.

Adam ducked behind a metal crate.

Yassin moved in the opposite direction.

Armed men stormed into the warehouse.

There were too many of them.

“Back exit!” Yassin shouted.

They ran.

An explosion tore through part of the wall.

Adam reached an old car hidden behind the warehouse.

He opened the door.

Yassin jumped inside.

Adam turned the key.

Nothing.

He tried again.

Still nothing.

“Problem?” Yassin asked.

Adam glared at him.

“Shut up.”

He tried for the third time.

The engine finally came alive.

Adam slammed his foot down.

The car burst through the rear gate just seconds before the pursuers reached them.

The Betrayal

Adam drove through the dark streets.

“Who is the traitor?” he asked.

Yassin said nothing.

“I need a name.”

“You won't like it.”

“Say it.”

Yassin took a breath.

“General Fares.”

Adam slammed on the brakes.

“Impossible.”

“I knew you'd say that.”

Fares had been the commander of their unit.

The man who trained Adam.

The man who had saved his life twice.

The man Adam trusted more than anyone.

“You're lying.”

“I wish I were.”

Yassin handed him a file.

“These are signed orders.”

Adam opened it.

There were dozens of pages.

Names.

Financial transfers.

Photographs.

Dates.

Then Adam saw something that made him stop.

His own name.

Next to it was a single word:

Eliminated.

The Trap

Adam and Yassin reached an abandoned government building.

Yassin believed the original files were stored on a secure server somewhere beneath the building.

They entered.

They went down into the basement.

Adam found a small control room.

He turned on the computer.

The files began loading.

Twenty percent.

Forty percent.

Sixty percent.

Then Adam heard clapping.

He turned around.

General Fares stood in the doorway.

Several armed men stood behind him.

Fares smiled.

“I knew you'd come back.”

Adam stared at him.

“Why?”

“Because I made you.”

“And you destroyed me.”

“I was testing your loyalty.”

“You killed my team.”

Fares' expression remained cold.

“They knew too much.”

Adam looked at Yassin.

But Yassin was gone.

“Where is he?” Adam asked.

Fares smiled.

“Yassin betrayed me.”

Adam looked back at him.

“How convenient.”

Fares took one step forward.

“You still don't understand. You never knew who to trust.”

Adam looked at him calmly.

“You're wrong.”

“About what?”

“I don't trust anyone anymore.”

Then Adam reached for the computer.

The Explosion

A massive explosion shook the building.

The lights flickered.

Several men fell to the floor.

Adam used the confusion.

He moved.

The first man went down.

Then the second.

Fares stepped backward.

Adam chased him.

They reached the stairs.

Fares ran upward.

Adam followed.

They reached the rooftop.

Helicopters were visible in the distance.

The entire city stretched beneath them.

Fares turned.

“It's over, Adam.”

“It hasn't even started.”

Fares moved closer.

“You don't understand the whole picture.”

“Then explain it.”

Fares hesitated.

“An operation is about to begin in less than an hour. If you stop me now, thousands of people could die.”

Adam's expression changed.

“Where?”

Fares smiled.

“I won't tell you.”

“Then I'll find it.”

Adam turned away.

Fares called after him.

“Adam.”

He stopped.

“You were always my best man.”

Adam did not turn around.

“That's why I'll be the last man you ever face.”

The Last Mission

Adam reached the harbor before dawn.

Several trucks were moving between the warehouses.

He remembered everything Yassin had told him.

Then he understood.

The target was not the government building.

It was the harbor.

Adam entered one of the warehouses.

There were dozens of crates.

He opened one.

His expression changed.

Inside were sophisticated devices designed for a massive sabotage operation.

He reached for his phone.

A message appeared.

Behind you.

Adam turned.

Yassin stood near the entrance.

“You knew,” Adam said.

“From the beginning.”

“Why didn't you tell me?”

“Because they were monitoring everything.”

“And now?”

Yassin looked at the trucks outside.

“Now we don't have time.”

They heard engines approaching.

The convoy had arrived.

Adam looked at his watch.

5:42.

They had less than eighteen minutes.

The confrontation began.

Adam moved through the warehouse while Yassin worked on disabling the devices.

One man came from the left.

Another from behind.

Adam kept moving.

Then General Fares appeared.

He held a small remote control.

“Your time is over.”

He pressed the button.

Nothing happened.

Fares looked at the device.

Then at Adam.

Adam smiled.

“I knew you'd try that.”

“What did you do?” Fares demanded.

“Changed the signal.”

Yassin laughed.

“That was the part we didn't tell you.”

Fares charged toward Adam.

The two men collided in a brutal fight in the middle of the warehouse.

Fares was stronger than Adam expected.

But Adam was faster.

After a long struggle, Fares finally fell to the ground.

Security forces arrived minutes later.

The operation was stopped.

But Adam did not feel victorious.

He looked around the warehouse.

At the place where he had lost his friends.

At the years he had spent running.

Then he looked at Yassin.

“Is it over?” Adam asked.

Yassin looked at him.

“For us? Maybe.”

“And for them?”

Yassin gave him a faint smile.

“There's always someone else.”

The Ending That Wasn't an Ending

A few weeks later, Adam disappeared again.

No one knew where he went.

Some said he had left the country.

Others believed he had started a new life.

Some claimed he had returned to the unit.

Only Yassin knew the truth.

Adam was sitting in a small café in a distant city, drinking coffee and looking through the window.

His new phone vibrated.

He opened the message.

There was only one photograph.

A mysterious man standing outside a government building.

Underneath the photograph was a single sentence:

Fares was not the real leader.

Adam stared at the screen.

Then he smiled.

He put the phone away.

“I was hoping this really would be the last mission,” he whispered.

He stood up.

Left some money on the table.

And walked outside.

A black car was waiting for him.

He opened the door and got inside.

Before the car moved, another message arrived.

The next mission has begun.

Adam looked at the road ahead.

Then he smiled.

“Then let's begin.”

The car disappeared into the streets.

No one knew that the man everyone thought had disappeared years ago...

was preparing to return.
